Dharamshala: The Department of Religion and Culture (DoRC) recently held interviews for the 6th Tibetan Arts and Culture Fund (TACF) on May 11 and 12.
Over the course of two days, applicants residing in and around Dharamshala underwent in-person interviews, while virtual interviews were conducted for those unable to attend in person. The selection committee, comprised of four members, diligently evaluated the candidates. This year, 44 applicants were selected for the interview round whose projects focus on research studies, translation, visual arts, performing arts and publications.
The TACF, initiated by the Department of Religion and Culture under the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA), aims to support and provide grants of up to INR 300,000 to Tibetan artists, researchers, and organizations dedicated to preserving and promoting traditional and contemporary Tibetan arts and culture. This program serves to assist both established professionals and emerging artists in expanding their work and sharing their expertise.
Numerous projects, including training courses on Tibetan handicraft skills, research and publication of books on Tibetan culture, and the procurement of Tibetan costumes, as well as documentation efforts to preserve Tibetan culture, have received support from the DoRC. To date, over 100 Tibetan artists, researchers, and cultural organizations have successfully completed their projects through the TACF.
Funding for this initiative is provided by the USAID through the Tibet Fund, further emphasizing the international collaboration to preserve and promote Tibetan arts and culture.
