First and Second year Geshema Examination for nuns is currently underway at Dolmaling Nunnery, Dharamsala. The Geshema Examination program was initiated by DRC just after the completion of a conference with concerned institutions and formulated the guidelines to award Geshema Degrees in 2012. This program provides equal opportunities to all the nuns who completed their 17 years of studies in five major philosophical texts and secure an average of 75% marks in any nunneries across India, Nepal and Bhutan affiliated under Department of Religion & Culture (DRC)
The first Geshema degree examination was held at Jamyang Choeling Nunnery, Dharamsala from May 20 to June 3, 2013. This year 23 nuns from second year and six nuns from first year are taking part in exam at Dolma Ling Nunnery. Total 29 nuns have been giving test for five day in the field of Pramitta ༼ཕར་ཕྱིན།༽, Madhyamika ༼དབུ་མ།༽, Pramana ༼ཚད་མ།༽, and Debating in particular and Written test of Tibetan grammar, Tibetan political history and history of the Dharma in general.
