Kalon Karma Gelek Yuthok,the Department of Religion and Culture, Central Tibetan Administration, visited the College for Higher Tibetan Studies based in Sarha to attend its 18th founding anniversary on Saturday, 13 August. He was invited by the college as the chief guest of the function and to address the students.
Upon his arrival at Sarha, he was received by Ven Geshe Kalsang Damdul, the Director of Institute of Buddhist Dialectics and Mr Passang Tsering, the principal of the college. The function was started with a recitation of prayers by the students, followed by offering tea and sweet rice. Mr Passang Tsering briefly introduced the function and read out the annual report of the college. After giving speech by Ven Geshe Kalsang Damdul, Kalon Karma Gelek Yuthok was requested to present the prizes to the meritorious students of the year 2015’s annual exam and to address the gathering.
In his speech, Kalon focused on the importance of Tibetan literature in general and particularly Tibetan language which is the only language that can explain Tibetan Buddhism in detail. He also emphasised on moral responsibilities of the students not only in the field of studies but also to preserve the rich language of Tibet and to maintain ethical values.
