BODH GAYA: Ven Karma Gelek Yuthok, Kalon for Religion and Culture, Central Tibetan Administration paid an official greeting to Kyabje Kathok Getse Rinpoche this morning at Bodh Gaya. Kathok Getse Rinpoche was recently appointed as the spiritual head of Nyingma tradition of Tibetan Buddhism during Nyingma Monlam held in Bodh Gaya. Kalon offered Ten-Sum and presented a written message of Kashag to Rinpoche.
During the meeting, Kalon updated upcoming events and programs of the Department of Religion and Culture and also expressed his serious concern on declining numbers of monks and nuns in many monasteries and the increased need of improving scholarship of present monks and nuns, studying in respective monasteries.
Kalon later visited Gaden Phelgayling and Shechen Tenyi Dhargayling Monasteries. In the afternoon, Kalon visited Namdroling Monastery, Sakya Monastery, Karma Choekhor Ling and Nyingma monasteries.
Kalon also paid greetings to Gyaltsab Rinpoche while visiting Tergar monastery. Ven Kunchok Tenzin of Gaden Phelgayling Monastery accompanied Kalon in the visits.
Tomorrow Kalon will visit Namgyal Stupa, erected in Vaishali, near Patna. The stupa is one of the eight stupas built by Department of Religion and Culture in accordance with the advice of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. The stupa project symbolizes the gratitude of Tibetan people towards the Government and People of India for their unflinching support towards the people of Tibet.
