Kalon Tsegyal Chukya Dranyi Attends 49th-Day Memorial Prayer and Peace March for Martyr Lobga Rangzen in Mundgod

Dharamshala: On 20 August 2026, commemorating the 49th day since the self-immolation of Lobga Rangzen in front of the United Nations, Kalon (Minister) of the Department of Religion and Culture, Tsegyal Chukya Dranyi, attended a special prayer offering and peace march organised by the Doeguling Tibetan Settlement Office in Mundgod. 

At 8:30 am, the memorial prayer was held at the settlement’s community hall in the presence of local officials and members of the public. On the occasion, the Kalon read out the Kashag’s statement, honouring Lobga Rangzen’s martyrdom and his sacrifice for the cause of Tibet, following which the prayer offering commenced.

Following the conclusion of the prayer, the Kalon joined the peace march around Norbu Hill.
