Ven Karma Gelek Yuthok, Kalon of Department of Religion and Culture, Central Tibetan Administration,visited Sri Lanka from 20 – 25 May 2018. He was invited by the Colombo based Sri Lankan and Tibetan Buddhist Brotherhood Society to meet with the Sri Lankan Buddhist head priests, to pay homage to the sacred Buddhist sites and pagodas in Kandy and Anuradhapura, and to visit Bhikshu University in Sri Lanka.
During the visit, he discussed academic and cultural exchange programs between Sri Lankan and Tibetan Buddhist scholars and students, with the Vice-Chancellor of the Bhikshu University. He also visited the Shakya Kingdom Theme Park Project site and discussed with its Chairman about future co operations, and to hold meeting with the President and Management Committee Members and officers of Sri Lankan and Tibetan Buddhist Brotherhood Society in Colombo.
The Hon. Kalon was strongly touched by the growing understanding and support of Sri Lankan Buddhist community towards the Tibetan cause and felt that his visit to Sri Lanka turned out very meaningful.
