Dharamsala: The Dept. of Religion and Culture, CTA hold the second introduction of the Tibetan Festival for CTA staff and the general public through live telecast. Topic on this introduction of the Tibetan festival is about Nyanpa Guzom and Sangpo Chuzom (Nine bad omens and ten auspicious omens). According to the Tibetan calendar, the day of the nine bad omens are considered the most inauspicious days of the year which usually started on the 6th day to the 7th day of the 11th Tibetan month. During the day, Tibetans try to avoid doing important works like starting new business, traveling and weddings etc and instead of that they enjoy the day by playing games and having picnics with family and relatives. At the time of the Buddha, one practitioner tried to perform a lot of positive actions on this day, and nine bad things happened to him. Consequently, Buddha proclaimed that on this date each year in the future, it is best not to try to accomplish much.
The festival was introduced by Mrs. Tsering Choezom, the head of the Astro. department of Men Tsee Khang, Dharamsala. She talked about the Nyanpa Guzom based on Tibetan astrological point of view and historical background. As requested by the religion department, she also talked about the methods and techniques of using the Tibetan calendar.
