
Hunsur: On 31 December 2025, the Department of Religion and Culture (CTA), in collaboration with Gyudmed Snowland School, organised the closing ceremony of the 12th six-month intensive course in Tibetan language and Buddhist philosophy at the school’s assembly hall in the Rabgayling Tibetan Settlement, Hunsur.
The Chief Guest of the occasion was the Abbot of Gyudmed Tantric Monastery, Venerable Geshe Ngawang Sangye. Other distinguished guests included Tibetan Parliamentarian Migyur Dorjee, Secretary of the Department of Religion and Culture Dhondul Dorjee, and the Hunsur Rabgayling Tibetan Settlement Officer, Norbu Tsering.
The programme commenced at 9:30 a.m. with the offering of ceremonial scarves by the guests, followed by paying respects before the portrait of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. After the guests were seated, the students collectively sang the Tibetan national anthem.
The school’s Headmaster, Ngagrampa Yonten Norbu, then delivered the introductory address and presented a brief report on the six-month intensive course. This was followed by a sharing of experiences by the student representative, Dawa Tenzin. Subsequently, two students who had topped the recent oral examinations re-delivered their speeches, for which they had secured excellence.
The Chief Guest presented prizes to the top three achievers, while Tibetan Parliamentarian Migyur Dorjee awarded prizes to the next three highest performers. Thereafter, the Secretary of the Department of Religion and Culture presented certificates of course completion, and the Hunsur Rabgayling Tibetan Settlement Officer distributed the written examination mark sheets.
The Secretary of the Department of Religion and Culture then presented tokens of appreciation from the department to the staff of Gyudmed Snowland School. This was followed by the Principal of Gyudmed Snowland School, Geshe Ngagrampa Sonam Ngodup, presenting modest gifts to all students and expressing gratitude to the male student representative, Dawa Tenzin, and the female student representative, Tenzin Dolma.
Later, the Principal of Gyudmed Tantric Monastery, Geshe Ngagrampa Sonam Ngodup, delivered a speech related to the programme. Addresses on the intensive course were subsequently given by the Hunsur Rabgayling Tibetan Settlement Officer and the Secretary of the Department of Religion and Culture. Tibetan Parliamentarian Migyur Dorjee then offered guidance on the importance of education and positive motivation for today’s youth. The Chief Guest concluded the session by sharing guidance and religious teachings beneficial for both this life and the next.
Finally, Section Head Tenzin Dawa from the Department of Religion and Culture delivered the vote of thanks. The ceremony concluded with all dignitaries, staff members, and students gathering for a group photograph.
