Secretary Dhondul Dorjee Attends Conclusion of the Eighth Geshe Lharampa Tantric Debate Examination at Gyuto Monastery

 

Dharamshala: On 4 November 2025, Secretary Dhondul Dorjee of the Department of Religion and Culture, Central Tibetan Administration, attended the concluding event of the 8th Geshe Lharampa Tantric Debate Examination at Gyuto Monastery.

The examination was presided over by the 105th Gaden Tri Rinpoche, Jetsun Lobsang Dorjee Pelsangpo, and Sharpa Choeje Rinpoche, Jetsun Ngawang Jorden Pal Sangpo.

Following the ceremonial lighting of lamps by Gaden Tri Rinpoche and Sharpa Choeje Rinpoche, the chant master led prayers to commence the closing day of the examination. Thereafter, Education Officer Ngagrampa Ngawang Tsondue announced the results of the Geshe Lharampa Tantric Debate Examination.

The event also featured addresses by Gaden Tri Rinpoche, Sharpa Choeje Rinpoche, and Abbot Ghangkar Tulku Rinpoche. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Lama Khangsar Tulku.

Among the examiners were the Abbots of Gaden Shartse and Drepung Gomang, as well as representatives of the Abbots of other Gelug monasteries.

Since 2005, this Tantric Debate Examination has been held every three years, and a total of 131 Geshe Lharampas completed the examination this year.
