
Dharamshala: Secretary Dhondul Dorjee of the Department of Religion and Culture, Central Tibetan Administration, attended the enthronement ceremony of the new abbot of Gyutoe Tantric Monastery, Khangser Rinpoche Jetsun Tenzin Tsultrim Palden Pal Sangpo, formerly the monastery’s lead Chant Master, on 2 March 2026.
The ceremony was also attended by Tibetan Justice Commissioner Dawa Phunkyi and Tibetan Parliamentarian Geshe Lharampa Atuk Tsetan from the Central Tibetan Administration.
The enthronement ceremony was held following the appointment of Khangser Rinpoche as the 129th Abbot of Gyutoe Tantric Monastery by 14th Dalai Lama.
The ceremony commenced with Secretary Dhondul Dorjee leading a solemn procession, carrying incense, from Khangser Rinpoche’s residence to the monastery treasury, where ceremonial sweet rice and butter tea were served. From there, the new Abbot was formally received in the monastery’s main prayer hall, where special prayers were offered.
Distinguished guests, including the Secretary of the Department of Religion and Culture, offered a Mandala and the auspicious representations of the Buddha’s body, speech, and mind before Khangser Rinpoche as part of the traditional rites.
Following the prayer offerings, the enthronement ceremony concluded.
