Secretary Dhondul Dorjee Joins in Loseling Monastery’s Offering of Long-life Prayers to Ganden Tripa, Sharpa and Jangtse Choeje Rinpoches

 

Mundgod: The abbot and monks of Drepung Loseling Monastic University in India held a long-life prayer ceremony for the spiritual heirs of Jhe Yab Se Sum: the 104th Ganden Tripa Jetsun Lobsang Tenzin Palsangpo, Sharpa Choeje Rinpoche Jetsun Lobsang Dorjee Pelsangpo, and Jangtse Choeje Ngawang Sungrab Tenzin Gelek Palsangpo.

Representing the Central Tibetan Administration, Secretary of the Department of Religion and Culture Dhondul Dorjee attended the ceremony alongside Tibetan Parliamentarians Geshe Lharampa Gowo Lobsang Phende and Geshe Lharampa Atuk Tsetan. The event was also graced by the presence of Kasur (former Kalon) Tsering Dhondup, Kasur Thupten Lungrig, Doeguling Tibetan Settlement Officer Lhakpa Dolma, and leaders from local Tibetan civil societies.

At 7:15 a.m., the three esteemed lamas paid their respects at the monastery’s shrines before participating in the long-life prayers. Abbot Geshe Yeshi Lhundup of Drepung Loseling, Abbot Gankar Tulku Lobsang Kunchok Tenzin from Gyumed Monastery, and former Abbot Geshe Lobsang Samten of Drepung Loseling offered Mandalas to Ganden Tri Rinpoche, Sharpa Choeje Rinpoche, and Jangtse Choeje Rinpoche, respectively. Abbot Geshe Yeshi Lhundup presided over the ceremony as its Dorje Lopon (vajra master).

The ceremony concluded with the presentation of ceremonial white scarves by other distinguished lamas, tulkus, abbots, scholars of the Gelugpa tradition, and honored guests.

Later that afternoon, Secretary Dhondul Dorjee visited the six Tibetan monasteries under the jurisdiction of Mundgod Doeguling to assess the progress of the Tibetan Digital Library Project, overseen by the Department of Religion and Culture. During his visit, he met with Geshe Sonam Gyaltsen, the Abbot of Rato Dratsang, to discuss the project in detail. The Secretary also visited Drepung Gomang, Drepung Loseling, Sakya Tsechen Dongag Choeling, Gaden Jangtse, and Gaden Shartse, where he met with project staff at each monastery to review progress and address any procedural issues.
