
Hunsur: On 15 September 2024, Secretary Dhondul Dorjee of the Department of Religion and Culture, Central Tibetan Administration, visited the Snowland School at Gyumed Monastery to assess the ongoing 11th intensive course on Tibetan language and Buddhist philosophy.
During his visit, Secretary Dorjee joined the students for their morning prayer session before meeting with the monastery’s Abbot, Geshe Ngawang Sangey. The Secretary conveyed his gratitude to the Gyumed Monastery administration for their successful hosting of the intensive course, noting its significant benefits for Tibetan students during the interaction with Abbot Geshe Ngawang Sangey.
Following his meeting with the Abbot, Secretary Dhondul Dorjee observed a class session and participated in a brief gathering with the Snowland School’s students and teachers. He encouraged the students to uphold and cherish their unique Tibetan identity and cultural heritage to preserve and promote Tibetan traditions.
The intensive course on Tibetan language and Buddhist philosophy, now in its 11th edition, aims to impart Tibetan linguistic and religious teachings to preserve and promote Tibetan language, culture, and religion. This year’s course at Gyumed Monastery’s Snowland School includes 31 participants: 23 Tibetan postgraduate students, 6 students from Mon Tawang (Arunachal Pradesh), and 2 students from Japan.
