Hunsur: On 18 July 2025, Secretary Dhondul Dorjee of the Department of Religion and Culture (CTA) paid official visit to the Snowland Tibetan School, affiliated with Gyudmed Tantric Monastery in Hunsur, to observe the ongoing 12th six month intensive course at the monastery.

Upon his arrival, on 17 July at the monastery, the Secretary met with the Abbot of Gyumé Monastery, Geshé Ngawang Sangyé. Then on 18 July, the secretary addressed the students and the teachers where he expressed heartfelt gratitude towards monastery’s teachers and staff for hosting and providing this course till now, for 12th time and wished for more in forthcoming days.

In his address, He emphasised the students on the importance of this programme, their privilege to learn the Tibetan language without any hindrance from other party. He reminded the student on how Tibetan children inside Tibet are forcefully taken into the Chinese colonial-style boarding schools in Tibet, and the rigorous repression and indoctrination they goes through in such schools. Around 1.2 million Tibetan children are enrolled in such schools, a part of PRC’s greater policy to erase Tibetan’s identity and culture from the history. Hence, the Secretary stressed everyone to maintain their Tibet’s advocacy steadfast and to never give up on their struggle for freedom.

After the formal speech, the teachers, staffs and 12 student of six month intensive course were presented ‘Voice for the Voiceless’, a book by His Holiness’s the great 14th Dalai Lama.
