
Dharamshala: The 11th six-month intensive course on Tibetan Language and Buddhist Studies at Gyudmey Snowland School concluded with a brief closing ceremony on 31 December 2024.
The program, jointly organised by the Department of Religion and Culture (CTA) and Gyudmed Tantric Monastery, was attended by 25 Tibetan youth from 10 different regions.
Jetsun Thubten Rabgay, the chant master of Gyudmed Tantric Monastery, was the chief guest at the concluding ceremony, which was also attended by head of the monastery’s cultural department, the principal of Snowland School, tutors, and students of the six-month course. The event featured the presentation of recognition awards to the top three students, as well as completion certificates to all participating youths.
In his keynote address, Chief Guest Jetsun Thubten Rabgay emphasised the importance of Tibetan cultural heritage, particularly Tibetan Buddhism. Similarly, the head of the monastery’s Religious and Cultural Department and the school principal spoke about the course and encouraged participants to integrate the lessons learned during the six-month training into their daily lives. The former also discussed the current status of Tibetan culture and language, highlighting the inherited responsibilities of the younger Tibetan generation.
The course covered Tibetan literature, grammar, Buddhist dialectics, and other major texts of Tibetan Buddhism.
